The Seniors & Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) and the Assisted Living Action Group (A.L.A.G.) send a big “thank you” to everyone who either has completed the online Aging At Home survey for Older Adults in the Rainy River District at www.ffsalt.com or a paper copy.
An extra big “thank you” to everyone in the district who has promoted the survey to people you know. Our advertising budget has been limited so the one on one, or the circulation of e-mails, seems to get the best results.
Every completed survey is important.
A good response is coming in from the 45-64 age group, but more would be awesome!
It gives us a snapshot of the expectations and plans of this age group for when they reach 65—thus a 20-year projection.
The bulge of “baby-boomers” reaching age 65 is yet to come. And there is a growing number of us reaching that “Century Club” as health-care dollars are shrinking.
These realities are true, not only for our district but for all communities across Canada. We need to be innovative to plan and care for one another.
More responses are needed, especially from First Nations’ communities and rural folks, to give a district overview.
Numerous readers know someone who either has needed, do need, or will soon need a local assisted living facility and services.
Perhaps assisted living is not something that you or anyone you know is in need of. But what happens if, down the road, you do need it and there is nothing in the district that meets your needs?
The online survey at www.ffsalt.com closes at midnight on Friday (June 22).
Paper copies can be delivered to the Rainy River District Victim Services (334 Scott St.), the Fort Frances, Emo, and Rainy River public libraries, or the Northwestern Health Unit offices in Fort Frances, Emo, and Rainy River.
Paper copies also can be mailed to the Assisted Living Action Group c/o Rainy River District Victim Services, P.O. Box 683, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M9.
