Deadline extended for music camp

District children are encouraged to get their dancing shoes on, their voices warmed up, and their costumes ready for two weeks of musical and theatrical camp.
Co-ordinator Reneé Martin said she’s pleased with the number of registrations so far but welcomes more youth to enroll in River Theatre’s summer musical theatre program.
“At this point I have 17 signed up. We can take 25 or 30 children,” Martin noted. “There’s acting, singing, and dancing—two weeks of summer fun for kids.”
The original early bird registration deadline was June 15 but Martin has extended that to Friday, June 21 due to the flooding. The camp will run from July 29-Aug. 9.
The camp, to be held at the Emo Legion, will consist of dancing in the morning and drama and singing in the afternoon.
“I’m very excited about it. I’m positive the children will enjoy it. It’s going to be two weeks of fun,” Martin enthused.
Youth from all over the district are enrolled, including Rainy River, Nestor Falls, and even Baudette, Mn. They will be rehearsing songs, dance, and theatre all on the theme of family.
Martin, who also directs the Emo Centennial Choir, will run the camp with Erin Bree Pierce, a musical and drama co-ordinator from Hamilton, and Chantelle Johnson, owner/operator of Dancemakers and Beauty Essentials in Fort Frances.
The early bird fee is $175. After that, the late registration fee is an extra $20. To register, contact Martin at 482-3055.
