With an insufficient number of nominations for the 14th-annual Bell Business Awards having come in by Friday’s deadline, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce has extended the deadline to Jan. 28.
“We’re going to have to extend the deadline,” Chamber manager Anthony Mason said this morning, adding a total of 16 nominations have come in so far for some of the 11 award categories.
“We want a lot more than that,” he noted, pointing out the annual awards ceremony usually draws at least 50 nominations.
This year’s banquet is slated for Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Adventure Inn here.
Mason said the public is encouraged to pick up nomination forms at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) or download one from their website at www.fortfranceschamber.com
They then are asked to fill out those forms to nominate a business or individual they feel is deserving in any of the following 11 categories:
•Business of the Year (1-15 employees);
•Business of the Year (16+ employees);
•Entrepreneur of the Year;
•Small Business Trainer of the Year;
•Business Woman of the Year;
•Customer Service (business);
•Customer Service (individual);
•Employee of the Year;
•Tony Beyak Memorial Volunteer of the Year;
•Safety Award (business/individual); and
•Accessibility Award.
Nominees do not have to belong to the local Commerce to be eligible to win.
In fact, many past winners have been individuals and businesses from across Rainy River District.
