Deadline approaching for music camp

Looking for a camp for your artistically-inclined eight to 15-year-old?
Well, River Theatre’s summer musical theatre program in Emo is now accepting registrations for its session running July 29-Aug. 9.
“It’s a two-week program that runs from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Emo Legion,” said musical co-ordinator Reneé Martin.
“It combines dance, drama, and singing so that at the end of the two weeks, we can do a small-scale musical production,” she added.
Sessions will be offered on dramatic techniques, stage movement, improvisation, characterization, vocal development, and dance.
“We’ll pick a certain theme that will incorporate all our songs, three dances, and a drama performance for family and friends. We’ll also do arts and crafts on Friday afternoon to create props.
“There’s lots of fun events planned,” Martin enthused.
Martin, who also directs the Emo Centennial Choir, will run the camp with Erin Bree Pierce, a musical and drama co-ordinator from Hamilton, and Chantelle Johnson, owner/operator of Dancemakers and Beauty Essentials in Fort Frances.
“The fee is $175 for the program and the registration deadline is June 15,” Martin said. “After that, the late registration fee will be an extra $20.
“We [already] have 11 registered from Emo, Fort Frances, Rainy River, Nestor Falls, and Baudette,” she added.
For parents wondering about travelling to Emo, Martin suggested car pooling.
