Date set for Chili Cook-off

This year’s Great Chili Cook-off, hosted by the Fort Frances Times, is set for Friday, Sept. 26 and organizer Susan Martin is looking for more chefs to sign up.
“We have 12 chefs so far, so we have a few spots left,” she noted.
Chefs work in teams of two. Each team must have a name, and can dress up according to a theme if they want to.
“It’s a fun event. People seem to really like it,” Martin remarked.
Last year’s champs were Connie Kress and Angela Bombay of Pwi-Di-Goo-Zing Ne-Yaa-Zhing Advisory Services, with their “Pwi-Di-Good” chili.
The Times’ own Rosanne Kellar, along with co-worker Lincoln Dunn, took the People’s Choice award last year for their “May the ‘forks’ be with you” chili.
This year also will see the return of the popular “cake roulette.”
The public is invited to come out and try the chili that day from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Times (located at 116 First St. E.)
All proceeds will go to local food banks.
Anyone interested in entering the chili cook-off, or volunteering to bake something for the cake roulette, is asked to call Martin at 274-5373.
