While “Spring Fling” was the theme of last year’s annual fundraising banquet staged by the local Business Women’s Network, the group has something else in mind for its third-annual dinner slated May 5.
“This year, the Business Women’s Network is holding ‘A Touch of Italy,’ with a completely Italian menu,” said Janis Lesko, chair of the charity ball committee.
“And ‘A Touch of Italy’ will be ever-present as anyone who comes to it will see,” she added.
The dinner will be held at the Fort Frances Curling Club. Dress is semi-formal but a prize will be given out to the person wearing the most authentic Italian clothes.
“It’s a fun, fun night with lots of dancing and good food,” noted Lesko.
Door prizes and a silent auction will add to the evening, said BWN chair Tammi Shoemaker. “Within the network, we have a good number of businesses able to contribute prizes.
“We’ve been told we always have the nicest prizes around,” she remarked.
The dinner will start at 7:30 p.m., with cocktails at 6:30 p.m.
Once again, proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Easter Seal Society.
“Last year, we raised $2,667 and we hope to increase that amount this time around,” said Lesko. “It’s for an excellent cause, and all the proceeds go to help out children in the community.”
“Our goal is to create a fun, exciting evening and raise money for Easter Seals. We always have a great time,” echoed Shoemaker.
Tickets for the dinner will go on sale next week at Cripes, It’s a Castle and Tammi’s Flowers, Cards, and Gifts on Scott Street. They cost $40 each.
“If a group wants a table, the price will be the same, but they can ensure they sit together,” noted Lesko.
A total of 150 tickets will be available. “Last year, the dinner was well-attended. But we would like to see it sell-out this time,” said Lesko.
