Date for ‘Quest’ still up in air

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce still has not set a date for the popular “Quest for the Best” singing contest.
“We’ve had a couple meetings now. Unfortunately, it still looks as if the Townshend Theatre is booked in April, May, and well into June,” Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth noted this morning.
While Booth said a couple of summer events have been looked at as possible times to stage “Quest”– namely Fun in the Sun and the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship–no decisions have been made yet.
“Right now, we’re probably looking at keeping it a Chamber event,” she remarked, adding it likely will be staged at the Townshend Theatre again (where it was held for the first time last year).
“We had compliments about how well-organized it was,” Booth said. “Some of the older people came out for it–there were comfortable seats and no alcohol.
“I think there’s people who would like to see it at the theatre and those who’d like to see it elsewhere,” she reasoned. “But wherever we hold it, there’s a mix of people who come out and make it a success.”
This year’s “Quest” will follow the same format of 20 contestants (either as solo acts or duets) vying for cash prizes.
The entry fee will be $20 per person, with registration forms to be available as soon as a date is set.
