Daffodils almost sold out already

Anyone wanting to help in the fight against cancer will have to move fast tomorrow.
Members of the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority originally planned to be out and about town tomorrow and Saturday selling blooms its annual “Daffodil Days” fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society.
But Beta Sigma Phi spokesman Marlene McQuarrie said this morning that pre-orders of the roughly 1,500 daffodil bunches available this year have been so overwhelming that the only non pre-order sales will take place tomorrow at Fort Frances High School starting at noon.
The cost is $5 per bunch.
“We pretty well have sold out ahead of time,” said McQuarrie, who added there’s also a possibility daffodils may be sold tomorrow morning at Knox United Church, where the cutting of the stems happens tonight.
“We won’t know that for sure until we see where we’re at tonight,” she remarked.
Beta Sigma Phi members have been assisting the Canadian Cancer Society’s national campaign for 28 years. Over the past five, more than $30,000 has been contributed to and used by the local unit.
