The Rainy River Future Development Corp. will name the winners of its 2005 Customer Service Champion Awards tomorrow evening at La Place Rendez-Vous.
There were 74 businesses from across the district that participated in the program this year, RRFDC office manager Cindy Milette said this morning, adding only the top 10 would be named tomorrow.
“It went really well this year,” she noted, pointing out 18 of the 74 businesses were from the west end of the district.
The call for participants in the program went out last fall, at which time businesses either volunteered to get involved or were chosen by someone to do so.
The RRFDC then contacted the participants, verified their participation, and told them they would be “mystery shopped” three times over the winter and spring.
Between February and April, three different “mystery shoppers” went to the 74 businesses one time each and scored the customer service they received using a point system, said Milette.
Then they reported back to the RRFDC and calculated the scores.
This is the second year for the RRFDC’s Customer Service Champion program, the purpose of which is to let businesses gauge their level of customer service and figure out how and where they can make any improvements.
Last year’s recipients were named last May and then again in November at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s business awards banquet.
They included East End Confectionery, Einar’s Foods, Emo Drugs, Howarth’s Home Centre, In Focus Photography, Kettle’s Restaurant, Marion’s Restaurant, Peggy Johnson (Mary Kay Cosmetics), and McTaggarts.
Rounding out the list was North Air Services, Northern Nutrition, Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, Robin’s Donuts, Scrap-A-Bit, Sears Canada, Sight & Sound, The Corner Closet, and Tompkins Hardware.
Tomorrow night’s announcement will coincide with the Chamber of Commerce’s “Business After Hours” annual deck party, which will run from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Rendez-Vous.
This event will feature free food, a cash bar, and raffle prizes.
