Crime Stoppers planning bartender contest

Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota proudly announces that Budweiser is sponsoring and presenting the first-annual U.G.L.Y. Bartender Team Contest as a fundraising event, with all proceeds going to the regional Crime Stoppers program to help solve unsolved crime.
The U.G.L.Y. (Unselfish, Generous, Loveable, You) Bartender Team Contest is a novel fundraising initiative that will be held in participating licensed establishments throughout Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota.
On-going weekly fundraising activities will be designed, organized, promoted, and conducted by the participating establishments’ U.G.L.Y. Bartender Team starting Friday, Oct. 14 and concluding at midnight on Sunday, Nov. 27.
Each participating U.G.L.Y. Bartender Team will receive one vote for each $1 raised for Crime Stoppers.
Limited edition leather U.G.L.Y. Bartender Team jackets will be given to the team that has raised the most money for Crime Stoppers at the conclusion of the contest.
There also will be a trip for two to Las Vegas awarded to the individual who, based on ballots submitted by the participating team members, exemplifies true leadership, innovation, and commitment to their particular team’s results.
There also will be awards for the team that achieves the best results weekly, as well as to the U.G.L.Y. Bartender Team that best exemplifies the true spirit of the contest by its innovation and commitment to the contest—and the Crime Stoppers cause.
All results will be tabulated, recorded weekly, and released through the regional media outlets each week.
“The generous involvement of the Budweiser people in both Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota is really appreciated as this first-ever event being held within our region will undoubtedly assist us in raising much-needed funds to help solve crime,” noted OPP Det. Cst. Gary Potter, co-ordinator of Crime Stoppers of Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota.
“The participation of the corporate sector, the hospitality industry, the public, and our media friends is a true example of the partnership and commitment that is present in our area, where everyone unselfishly contributes to make a difference to the quality of life within their communities,” he added.
