The Northern Lights Credit Union here is doing its part to raise funds for the local digital mammography unit campaign, “Together We Can.”
Encouraging both credit union members and non-members alike to “Buy A Bra—‘Support’ the Digital Mammography Unit,” the credit union is selling pink paper “bras” for $2 each, with the funds going towards the purchase of a new digital mammography unit to benefit district residents.
“We thought we’d make it fun,” NLCU branch manager Marla Thomson said this morning.
“This is a group effort and we’re kind of excited about it,” she added.
“We thought it was a unique, fun idea that would catch
people’s attention.
“But I would like to catch the attention of those other than just our members that come through our branch,” stressed Thomson, noting everyone is welcome to drop by the credit union and “buy a bra.”
Those who buy “bras” can write their names or an individual message on them, and put them up on a special wall at the credit union.
But the “bras” have been on sale for about two weeks now, and as more and more are purchased, they’ve started to spread to the teller wickets.
“We’re hoping we can decorate in bright pink bras,” enthused Thomson.
The credit union will continue to sell the “bras” right up until October.
The Riverside Foundation for Health Care is aiming raise $650,000 by then to purchase the digital mammography unit.
