An Indiana man was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 17 about 20 km east of Terrace Bay.
Nipigon OPP said a Dodge pickup truck with three occupants from Indiana was eastbound when it left the paved portion of the roadway and struck a rock cut around 12:35 p.m.
A 70-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported.
The other two occupants were treated by medical staff and released, police added.
The accident, which closed the Trans-Canada for several hours, remains under investigation by the OPP’s Northwest Region Highway Safety Division and Nipigon OPP.
