On January 2, the Northwestern Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Rainycrest Long Term Care Home as a result of one (1) resident testing positive.
To further enhance our team’s ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, additional precautions are being taken.
While the Home is already testing staff every 7 days, we will now be testing all residents twice over the first two weeks of January.
In addition, restrictions are being added to permit ONLY palliative visitors to the Home. We believe these added measures will enhance the Home’s ability to reduce the risk of transmission.
We have experienced increased COVID-19 infections recently across the district that have, in some instances, resulted in hospitalization. Our team continues to take a coordinated, equitable and evidence-based approach in providing safe, quality and timely care for COVID-19 patients in the district.
We recognize the immense responsibility our hospital, long term care and community service team’s carry each day in their efforts to provide both quality and safe care.
While the coming weeks and months ahead will bring further challenges, we appreciate the support of our patients, residents, clients, families, staff, physicians, board and the public as we recognize the role we play in protecting our communities.
