COVID-19 Outbreak at Riverside Health Care Facilities – La Verendrye General Hospital

Press release

Four cases confirmed in patients; increased safety measures in place to limit further spread

The Northwestern Health Unit and Riverside Health Care Facilities have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at La Verendrye General Hospital as a result of four four patients testing positive.

As an enhanced procedure in our team’s ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, staff will wear N95 while on the “COVID-19 Outbreak” zone/affected area.

The hospital is already testing staff twice a week, and we continue to test all of our inpatients.

Previously added restrictions include permitting ONLY visitors or care givers for palliative, critically ill, obstetric, pediatric, and emergency patients. Each of these listed exceptions, are permitted to have one visitor while palliative patients may have two at a time.

We recognize the immense responsibility our hospital, long term care and community service team’s carry each day in their efforts to provide both quality and safe care.

While the coming weeks and months ahead will bring further challenges, we appreciate the support of our patients, residents, clients, families, staff, physicians, board and the public as we recognize the role we play in protecting our communities.
