Not only was the new mayor and council sworn in at Monday night’s inaugural meeting, a motion also was passed to appoint them to the numerous town committees and district and regional boards.
They are as follows:
•Administration and Finance executive committee—Couns. Roy Avis, Tannis Drysdale, and Todd Hamilton;
•Planning and Development executive committee—Couns. Hamilton, Neil Kabel, and Rick Wiedenhoeft;
•Operations and Facilities executive committee—Couns. Avis, Struchan Gilson, and Kabel;
•Community Services executive committee—Couns. Drysdale, Gilson, and Wiedenhoeft;
•“Citizen of the Year” selection committee—Mayor Dan Onichuk and Wiedenhoeft;
•Court of Revision—Couns. Hamilton and Kabel;
•Rainycrest board of management—Mayor Onichuk and Coun. Kabel;
•Fort Frances Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corp. board—Couns. Avis and Gilson;
•Sister Betty Kennedy board of management—Couns. Drysdale and Gilson;
•Town of Fort Frances Police Services Board—Mayor Onichuk and Coun. Kabel;
•Northwestern Health Unit board—Mayor Onichuk;

A motion also was passed to appoint Coun. Kabel as deputy mayor.
The mayor and all six councillors also were appointed to the committee of the whole, with the chairperson to rotate on a six-month basis.
Coun. Gilson will serve as chair first until May 31, 2004, with Coun. Drysdale to be vice-chair.
