Town council will hear updates tonight regarding the Rainy River Resources’ gold project north of Barwick and economic development activities for the second quarter of 2013.
Kyle Stanfield, the mining company’s vice-president of environment and sustainability, will talk about the gold project.
Regional economic developer Geoff Gillon, meanwhile, is expected to report on matters ranging from inward investment (i.e., mining, forestry, industrial park, and condo development) to the “Go Local” campaign.
Council also will receive an invoice for RRFDC services rendered from April 1-June 30 in the amount of $22,769.47.
Other items on the agenda include:
•an update on capital projects;
•a recommendation re: the Fort Frances Community Garden fence request;
•requests from Doug Derendorf re: proposed meter rates for a new taxi service and council consideration of a new taxi service in town;
•a request from 539989 Ontario Ltd. (North Air Services) re: an amendment to the current taxi bylaw;
•an invitation to attend the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s annual dinner, “Cowboys and Lace,” set for Sept. 14 at the Emo Arena; and
•a bylaw to authorize the sale of municipal lands to Tom Veert Contracting Ltd.
The public portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start around 6:20 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet in-camera first at 5:30 p.m.
