Council to get report on dock

Town council will receive more information regarding the state of the dock at Pither’s Point at tonight’s regular meeting.
The town closed the dock to the public last month due to concerns over its structural integrity, and in the time since has had Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown take a closer look at it and assess the disrepair.
Once it takes a look at the cost to repair the dock, council then will have to decide whether to fix it or not.
Tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. It will be preceded by the committee of the whole, which is expected to be in-camera from 5-6 p.m.
Other business at tonight’s council meeting will include:
•a deeming application request from D. Harrison regarding Lots 8 and 9, Plan SM-41 (1221 Second St. E.);
•a bylaw to authorize taking title to certain lands in the name of the municipality to declare the lands necessary for municipal purposes and dedicate said lands as a highway;
•a bylaw to designate Lots 11 and 12 on Plan SM-60 (910 Smith Ave.);
•a bylaw to authorize entering into lease renewal agreements with Melaire Ltd. and 427112 Ontario Ltd. at the Fort Frances Municipal Airport;
