Town council is being asked once again to support the annual “Fly-in, Drive-in BBQ” at the Fort Frances Airport, which this year is slated for Saturday, June 3.
Council received a financial request from event organizer Bruce Caldwell, who asked the town for $1,000 to help pay for the 13th-annual event.
Plans for the “Fly-in, Drive-in BBQ” already are coming together, with the event expected to features planes and an antique car show (sponsored by the International Early Iron Car Club).
As well, there will be a barbecue catered by the local #908 Rainy Lake Air Cadets.
Council referred the request to the Administration and Finance executive committee for its recommendation.
Also at last night’s meeting, council:
•passed a bylaw to establish tax ratios for prescribed property classes;
•passed a bylaw to approve a contract with Wagner Construction Canada ULC to complete road reconstruction and watermain improvements on Third Street East;
•passed a bylaw to authorize the entering into of certain lease agreements at the Fort Frances Airport for a one-year term ending Dec. 31, 2012); and
•passed a bylaw to approve an employment agreement with Jason Kabel as the town’s new Community Services manager.
