Cops seize pot, firearms

As a result of a drug investigation by the Fort Frances OPP’s Drug Enforcement Section, police have seized more than four pounds of cannabis marijuana, a substantial amount of cash, and several firearms from a residence in La Vallee Township.
The marijuana seized has an estimated street value of more than $20,000.
In addition to the investigation that took place at the residence in La Vallee, police also seized 100 marijuana plants from property located on a lake north of Devlin.
The estimated street value of the plants is $100,000.
Brian McKinnon, the owner of both the residence in La Vallee and the property north of Devlin, was charged with production of a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance, careless storage of a firearm, and prohibited possession of a device.
He also faces three counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
McKinnon is scheduled to appear in court here Sept. 8.
