The Rainy Lake Conservancy’s planned nature outing, which was set to go yesterday, has been postponed due to weather. The rain date for the event was today, but since that forecast didn’t looking promising either, they’ve decided to wait and hold the outing in August.
While the Conservancy holds a nature outing each summer, this year’s adventure is meant to celebrate the centennial year of Quetico Superior.
Pam Hawley, curator of the Fort Frances Museum, will be on hand to offer a presentation on the history and lore of the region. She will share diaries and perceptions of the early settlers and also will talk about the Canadian Heritage Rivers System.
The event is planned to take place at Goose Portage on Sandpoint Island, once a date is determined.
And everyone is welcome to attend.
In other news, the Rainy Lake Conservancy will hold their annual general meeting on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous. A date for the nature outing will likely be announced then. New members are always welcome.
