Community Living Fort Frances and District will host a live webinar, entitled “Art of Belonging–Celebrating The Power of Community,” next Thursday (March 30) at 6 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
The “TED talk”-inspired event will feature six speakers from diverse backgrounds sharing their perspectives on the power of community.
The speakers will include:
•David Roche, who will share experiences from his life with a facial difference and the challenges of trying to belong;
•Jessica Bolduc, the national youth representative for the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples and project co-ordinator for the “4Rs Youth Movement”;
•Ted Kuntz, a psychotherapist and author who will share his story about being the father of a child with severe disabilities;
•Beth Mount, who has worked for four decades on many aspects of personal, neighbourhood, organizational, and cultural change;
•DeAmon Harges, a philanthropist, artist, inspirational speaker, and someone very concerned with helping people build a stronger community; and
•Janet Klees, an author using her perspectives to write about community and disability and work in various aspects of community for more than 30 years.
It should be noted that because the live event takes place in Toronto, the poster for the event shows a start time of 7 p.m.
As such, the webcast at the library will start at 6 p.m. (CDT).
The event is scheduled to run for an hour-and-a-half, and is open to everyone in the community.
Guests can register for the free event by contacting Faith Moen at 274-5556 ext. 228 or via e-mail at fmoen@clfortfrances.com
