Press Release
When your job is to share information with as many people as possible, that sometimes can be a daunting task.
But for Amy Saunders, it was a job she’d been trained for since graduating high school.
The newest member of Community Living Fort Frances and District since mid-February, Saunders is happily taking on her new role as membership services co-ordinator, an internship funded by FedNor.
“It’s a little scary starting a new job,” she admitted. “But the people are great and the message they wish to spread is such a good one that you simply have to give your all.”
In her position, Saunders will help the association boost its membership, as well as keep the public informed about events the organization is planning and programs they offer in the community.
She’ll accomplish this through newsletters, public media, the organizations’ new website, which will be launching soon, and through various activities during Community Living Month in May (the community is advised to keep a sharp eye out for the events the organization will be hosting all throughout the month of May).
“They’re such good people and I’m very proud to be a part of what they do,” said Saunders.
A recent graduate from print journalism programs at Algonquin College and the University of Ottawa, Saunders is ready to put her knowledge to good use and spread awareness of the association’s programs around the district.
One of the newest programs initiated across the province is the new ConnectABILITY.ca website.
Since it was identified as a foundation for sharing information online, Community Living Toronto took it upon itself to recreate it as a sleek, new user-friendly site.
The site—now organized by age and major life transitions (such as kids, youth, adults, and seniors)—makes distributing important information on those with intellectual disabilities a breeze.
Community Living Fort France and District encourages both its members and the community at large to explore the new site at www.connectability.ca
