Collision nets charges

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, members of the Treaty #3 Police Service came upon a motor-vehicle collision on Highway 11 in the area of Couchiching First Nation.
Members of the Rainy River District OPP were called to investigate the incident.
As a result of an investigation, Damian Corbo, 29, of La Vallee was charged criminally with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He also was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, using plates not authorized for a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Corbo will appear in court here Oct. 7 at 9:30 a.m.
In a second incident, shortly before 9 p.m. last Friday, members of the Rainy River District OPP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the 800 block of King’s Highway in Fort Frances.
Officers located the vehicle in question and conducted an investigation.
As a result, Sidney Darrah, 72, of La Vallee was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having a blood alcohol level over 80 mg.
Darrah will appear in court here Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m.
The public is urged to report impaired driving by calling 9-1-1 in emergency situations.
