High school students can get a look at what Ontario colleges have to offer when the College Information Tour drops by Fort Frances High School next Friday (Sept. 29).
“This is a large student recruitment drive where nine or 10 colleges will be in outlying regions, such as Fort Frances, to promote colleges,” said Shari McFayden, CIP co-ordinator for Northwestern Ontario.
“Basically, the colleges will try to answer all high school students questions–‘What do you offer? How long are the programs? What the costs?’” she added.
Other information available will include admission requirements, choosing a course suited to you, and where a college’s satellite campus might be, noted McFayden.
“The colleges definitely vary in course selection,” she said. “I think this is a great way to provide as much academic information from each schools, both far away and right next door, as possible.”
The tour will be at Fort High from 9-10:30 a.m., then move on to Atikokan High School that afternoon. The tour will be at Rainy River High School next Thursday (Sept. 28).
McFayden, who also works with career services at Confederation College, said the college will be well-represented through five weeks of the tour.
“I’ll be there myself, along with another trainee,” she noted.
Other colleges to be represented include Loyalist, Sault College, Cambrian, Algonquin, Sir Sanford Fleming, St. Clair, and Northern.
