Confederation College will graduate 36 students this evening but even before ceremony begins, many already have found employment in their new careers.
“Our graduates have had great success this year,” said Don Lovisa, manager of the college’s Fort Frances campus.
The ceremony, which gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre, will see students graduate from such programs as Registered Practical Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Business, and Native Family Worker.
“One hundred percent of our nursing graduates are working. They’re working in Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, here at Rainycrest, in Atikokan, and throughout the district,” Lovisa noted.
“Our business students are all employed also,” he added.
Gail Higginson, vice-president of Student and Academic Services from Confederation College’s main campus in Thunder Bay, will address the graduates at tonight’s ceremony.
Jane Gillon, with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines office here, also will deliver a message on behalf of alumni.
Lovisa said the graduates should be proud of their achievements.
“They always tell you that education pays off and this shows that two years of post-secondary does pay off,” he remarked.
