Confederation College and TBayTel announced a newly-formalized relationship yesterday morning at the Thunder Bay campus, which they say will improve post-secondary education delivery across Northern Ontario.
“[TBayTel] has the capacity for telecommunications while we have the capacity for delivering education, and our partnership will enable us both to do our jobs better,” Confederation College president Pat Lang said about the move which formalizes an already existing partnership.
“Working together for the success of our region is at the core of the relationship,” Don Campbell, president and CEO TBayTel, noted in a press release following yesterday’s announcement.
“As in any relationship, something is shared,” he explained.
“This agreement represents the sharing of knowledge and expertise between Confederation College and TBayTel.”
TBayTel “benefits directly” from Confederation College, employing graduates from various college programs such as marketing, human resources, and engineering.
“So we will continue to work with them, and more specifically work with them to ensure that they have a workforce with the knowledge skills and abilities to make sure that they are successful,” said Lang.
“Conversely, as we continue to grow our programs and expand our reach across Northwestern Ontario, we’ll be able to use their infrastructure to do it better and to do it faster,” she added.
Lang cited the new Regional Educational Alliance for Community Health (REACH) facility under construction in Thunder Bay, of which the college was able to “access the expertise” of TBayTel to ensure its infrastructure will help improve education delivery throughout Northwestern Ontario.
