College sets record for enrolment

Confederation College students, faculty, and administration were on hand yesterday to celebrate the local campus’ record enrolment of 102 full-time students.
Local campus director Anne Renaud noted the college has seen an overall increase at all of its campuses, but added the jump here was the highest.
Celebrating the
accomplishment with cake and conversation, Renaud attributed the increase to a number of different reasons.
“Our program mix this year attracted a lot of people,” she explained, citing access programs and the local economy as other factors.
She also credited “all the hard work that the staff has been doing.”
“We’re attracting people from out of town,” Renaud enthused.
And she predicted the enrolment trend will continue next year, noting that with the new Personal Support Worker course already online for registration next September, she expects another good round of applicants for the 2009-10 school year.
While Renaud said any further increase might mean a tight squeeze for students at the local campus, “then I’ll get another building so that’s a good problem to have,” she laughed.
