Coffee house returning

Autumn is in the air—leaves are changing colour, cool breezes are blowing.
Now if that isn’t a reason to bundle up and head on down to St. John’s Anglican Church for an evening of great music and a cup of hot specialty coffee, then we don’t know what is!
Our second-annual “Coffee House” will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at 360 Church St.
A decade or so ago, coffee houses were a popular item, especially in larger cities. People would gather, listen to good music, sip on a chocolate mocha, and basically enjoy the company of good friends.
Yet we certainly don’t have to go to Toronto to enjoy good music. Indeed, the entire Rainy River District is blessed with a multitude of talent.
Our musicians are out there—some professional, some just starting out; some old and seasoned, others young and daring.
And the genre of music is just as varied. We have country, classical, gospel, hip hop, and jazz, to name a few.
Perhaps a coffee house could be described most simply as a “celebration of the gifts of music given to us by our Creator.”
Do you have a musical talent that you’d like to share with us on Oct. 13? Why not give us a call? The only real prerequisite is a love for music and fondness of good company.
All interested musicians, vocal or otherwise, are invited to share with us their gifts. But do call us soon. That way, we can be sure to fit you into our program of performers.
The contact person is Sarah Gervais (274-5872), or call church secretary Anna Cunningham at 274-7692 during the day. If there is no answer, leave a message—your interest is appreciated.
And for the rest of us who are not performers but simply lovers of music, please simply come out and join us Oct. 13 starting at 7 p.m. This is a “come and go” kind of event.
As always, we will be serving specialty coffees, including espresso, latte, and cappuccino. Decaf coffee will be available, as well as flavoured teas.
And the desserts will be “heavenly,” including a variety of homemade European tortes, pastries, and cheesecakes.
Admission is a “toonie,” with your choice of specialty coffee or tea for $1.50 a cup and decadent desserts at $3.50 each.
So mark your calendar for fun on Oct. 13—and see you there!
