Clear your walkways

Canada Post letter carriers are hoping local residents will “break the ice.”
With the approach of warmer spring weather, temperatures rise and fall and ice and snow can melt and refreeze—creating dangerous situations for the people who deliver mail.
Packed snow creates an uneven walking surface, and a layer of ice on top makes it even worse.
Even in places where the sidewalk has been cleared, melting snow one day can turn that sidewalk into an icy hazard the following one.
Last March 2006, one Fort Frances letter carrier was injured due to slips and falls on sidewalks and steps.
Canada Post is asking residents to keep their steps and sidewalks clear of ice and snow in order to ensure the safety of letter carriers and the timely delivery of the mail.
Other pedestrians, including newspaper carriers, utility workers, and emergency services workers, also will benefit.
