‘Circuit’ to play at Rainy Lake

The Rainy Lake Hotel will be rocking to the infectious sound of the Ottawa based-band “Circuit” Friday and Saturday nights.
Although the present members have been performing as a group for only two years, their distinctive brand of rock already has caught the attention of some major record labels.
“We have been talking with a number of record [companies] and they seem pretty interested,” said rhythm guitarist Michael Wood. “There has been a lot happening for us lately and it’s great.
“We’re really excited about having so many people interested in us at this early stage,” he added.
Currently on their second national tour, the band will be heading west over the next few weeks to play a number of concerts before wrapping up in Vancouver.
“There is a big music festival in Vancouver called Music West,” Wood noted. “We are going to be ending the tour by playing at this venue.
“We’re looking forward to that because we’re going to be playing a lot of music from our latest album, ‘Chapter 11.’”
“Circuit” certainly is well on its way to making a name for itself.
“We were asked to play at the season home-opener of the Ottawa Senators at the Corel Centre last year,” Wood enthused. “It was a real rush to play there and to be asked to do it.
“We have also had the chance to be on the same bill as Sass Jordan, the Headstones, and the Watchmen. We have really been very fortunate.”
Although their latest tour has just begun, Wood admitted the band already had had their fair share of memorable moments.
“Last Friday we were playing in Thunder Bay,” he recalled. “During the concert, some girls decided that they wanted the pants of some of the band members.
“They managed to get the pants of [two] of the guys but when they came to me, I said there was no way they were going to get mine. There has been some really crazy stuff.”
But Wood and his bandmates also have experienced some great memories.
“After one of our shows in North Bay, a girl came backstage and asked if she could buy two CDs. We have been really well-received and the crowds have been really positive.
“It is great to get out there and play to a live audience,” Wood continued. “You get to play for the crowd and get a feel for what they like and don’t.
“We have had nothing but a great response from our audiences and we really could not ask for anything else.”
The band hits the stage at 9:30 both nights.
