Church goes ‘green’

Press Release

One of the focuses of the Zion Lutheran congregation for the past few years has been “Greening the Church and Community.”
In conjunction with this, we did a “garbage clean-up” with the Sunday School this past week.
We have promoted the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, and recycle). We also have planted trees and flowers, and are encouraging members to plant a tree in memory of a loved one.
The challenge we face is to live less wastefully so our environment can support us in good health for many generations to come.
In addition to last week’s clean-up, Zion Lutheran’s Sunday School has other events this fall.
On Oct. 4, we will celebrate St. Francis Day, with the children bringing in their pet or a “stuffy” to be blessed by Pastor Brian Keffer.
Also that Sunday, the congregation is encouraged to bring a locally-grown vegetable as the children will be preparing “stone soup” (based on the story), along with hotdogs and dainties, after the service.
Then on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m., Sunday School will accompany Pastor Keffer to Rainycrest for a service.
We welcome everyone new and returning for Sunday School.
