Tickets are still available for “How Great Thou Art,” a Christmas celebration of the Gospel music of “The King” Elvis Presley, which is coming up next Thursday (Dec. 14) at the Townshend Theatre.
The concert will feature Elvis tribute artist Daylin James, who wowed fans with a concert in mid-November that was a fundraiser for the local skate park.
This time, he’ll back with Gospel and Yuletide tunes that “The King” has himself performed in the past to help raise money for the Kidney Foundation.
Mary Jane Pearson, co-ordinator for the local Kidney Foundation and a self-proclaimed Elvis fan, said she was getting excited about the fundraiser.
“It’s going to be Christmas music—there will be some Gospel in there, too. But basically, it’s Christmas music,” she noted. “There’s lots of Christmas rock ’n roll songs. Elvis always put out a wonderful Christmas record.
“And, of course, the Kidney Foundation is a good cause.”
Pearson said she’s not sure exactly how many tickets have been sold, but did know more than 100 have been sold at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts—one of several places where they’re being sold.
“I’m certainly getting a good response so far,” she remarked. “People are excited from the last concert—I even sold some tickets that night.”
Tickets, which cost $20 in advance, also are available at CC Complex at Couchiching, Greensides General Store in Devlin, Emo Drugs, and Visser Auto.
You also can get them from Pearson at 274-3326.
If there’s any tickets left the night of the concert, they’ll be sold at the box office for $25.
This concert, sponsored by the Kidney Foundation of Canada and Super 8 Motel, is a fundraiser for the Northern Superior chapter of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.
