Those wanting to sing in Diane Maxey’s choir this Christmas must come out to a meeting slated for Monday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances.
Maxey said the meeting will be brief and shouldn’t take people away from their Thanksgiving celebrations too long.
“It’s not a practice,” she stressed. “I just want give them the lowdown on how it’s going to be different than previous years.”
Maxey is looking for 60-65 adults and high school students to lend their voices.
As reported last month, Maxey’s “Choraliers” and the Borderland Community Orchestra are joining forces to present a series of concerts in December.
Maxey said she and orchestra director Katherine Williams already have started planning for the four concerts, which will be performed in Fort Frances, International Falls, Emo, and Baudette in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.
More information regarding dates and locations will be communicated at Monday night’s meeting.
Maxey added these concerts will be replacing the Christmas cantata which she usually heads up each holiday season.
Instead of a narrative with song, the four concerts will feature different selections, with the orchestra providing the music and the choir the voices.
