A film co-created by former Fort Frances resident Terril Calder did not win a Genie Award last night, but the experience was “an incredible night” nonetheless.
Calder and fellow filmmaker Michelle Latimer, originally from Thunder Bay, were up for Best Animated Short award for their film, “Choke,” as first reported in the Feb. 29 edition of the Fort Frances Times.
But the honour ended up going to the film, “Romance,” by Georges Schwizgebel, René Chénier, and Marc Bertrand.
“Thanks to my friends for all of your amazing support and well wishes,” Latimer wrote on Facebook.
“It was an incredible night.
“No, we didn’t win but the films celebrated were amazing and I felt honoured to be among such talent,” she added.
“We never dreamed in a million years that our little film would come so far!” Latimer enthused.
“It’s really been a magnificent ride. Now on to the next film!”
