‘Chest’ dinner tickets nearly sold-out

Staff

Those planning to attend the annual “Community Chest” benefit dinner this Sunday (March 7) had best get their tickets right now as organizers report only about 10 left as of today.
Joelle Blanc of La Place Rendez-Vous said that up until recently, all the tickets were spoken for. But a small number of people have since said they can’t attend, freeing up less than a dozen seats.
Tickets, which cost $30 each, are available at the Rendez-Vous, where the dinner will be held.
They can be reserved by calling the Rendez-Vous (274-9811) or Blanc (274-7008).
As well, organizers have been getting items donated for the auction or raffles that evening.
Anyone who still wants to donate can call Linda Hamilton (274-8782) or Larry Cousineau (274-6911).
The purpose of the “Community Chest” dinner is to raise funds to provide financial aid to local families who may need help to cover medical costs.
Cocktails will be served at 5 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6.
The evening will include a live auction conducted by special guest “auctioneers” from the community, as well as raffles, door prizes, and possibly a silent auction.
Cousineau will be emcee for the evening while “Citizen of the Year” Diane Maxey will be the guest speaker.
The annual benefit dinner is a co-operative effort of the Rendez-Vous staff, the local Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club and Fort Frances Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and “Spirit of Christmas.”
