Charges laid in Festive R.I.D.E. program

With this year’s OPP Festive R.I.D.E. campaign now in its fourth week, police have been busy making sure district roads stay safe this holiday season.
For a three-week period ending Dec. 18, police checked a total of 4,425 vehicles in Rainy River District.
They administered a total of three driver’s licence suspensions, including two within the “warn” range, as well as one impaired driving charge.
They also administered 28 charges under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act, and other provincial offences.
Police report there have been four personal injury collisions and 47 “property damage only” collisions.
This year’s annual Festive R.I.D.E. campaign will remain in effect until Saturday, Jan. 2.
