In case anyone needed to be reminded who runs the show at the moment in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League, the message was reiterated emphatically last night.
How I Set Your Mother kicked off defence of its league title by earning the maximum six points on the opening night of the regular season.
However, they have company atop the standings after Gillons’ also pulled off a six-point night.
Gillons’ is a veritable all-star team from the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League.
New addition Shelby Nosan joined Dawson Tigers’ teammate Candy Teeple, Rachelle Yeo (Fort Frances Mud Dogs), and Caylee Woolsey (Fort Frances Heri-canes), along with accomplished league veterans Laureen Peters and LaRae Watson, on the floor last night.
In its league debut, Take A Hit, featuring former Muskies Tanisha Boshkaykin and Chelsea Kabatay, showed well with a five-point night.
No Diggity and Kiss My Pass wound up with four apiece.
Scared Hitless, Let’s Talk About Sets, and Bump It Up grabbed three points each, with new squad Volley Llamas collecting two.
New teams Safe Sets, Duck and Dive, and Bumping Uglies all were skunked last night.
Action resumes next Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fort High and St. Michael’s.
