Up to 100 representatives, dignitaries, and guest speakers are expected to descend on Fort Frances for a few days next month as the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce holds its annual general fall meeting here.
At its regular meeting tonight, town council will receive a financial request from the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the event, which will take Sept. 24-26 at La Place Rendez-Vous.
“NOACC represents a membership of 11 regional Chambers of Commerce throughout Northwestern Ontario,” the Chamber wrote in a letter to council.
“Their non-partisan stance and strong grassroots support from over 2,000 Northwestern Ontario businesses makes NOACC ‘The Voice of Business in Northwestern Ontario.’
“We sincerely hope that you will consider lending your support to the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce and NOACC during our centennial year and major convention weekend so that we can make this a comfortable and memorable time for our out-of-town guests,” the letter added.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but is scheduled to be in-camera until 6:20.
