In an effort to get a better idea as to what direction its members want the local Chamber of Commerce to go in the future, a strategic planing session will held tomorrow (March 25) upstairs at the Fort Frances Museum.
Economic development officer Geoff Gillon will facilitate the session, which will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The entire Chamber board of directors will be in attendance, as well as any Chamber members who choose to attend.
Chamber manager Dawn Booth said the objective of the session is to determine the Chamber’s priorities and future actions, and put them together in a five-year plan.
“The last plan that we did as back in 2003, so it’s definitely something we need to do, and something we need to update on an annual basis from this point on,” Booth remarked.
“It’s going to give us a clearer idea of where our members want us to go; what goals and objectives they want us to focus on in the next few years,” she added.
The input provided at tomorrow’s session will be compiled in a draft report within the following couple of weeks.
Booth said the draft plan will be provided to all Chamber members so if they can’t make it to tomorrow’s session, they won’t miss out.
“We’ll be asking for feedback and comment from our membership so that we can make any changes that they feel necessary,” she noted.
“This has been a priority for the Chamber for the last year. We’re not going to do this and then not do anything with it,” Booth stressed.
“We’re going to have the session, the draft plan is going to be put together, and it’s immediately going to be sent out for feedback from our members.
“Then it will be accepted and approved, hopefully, by our general membership meeting on April 22.”
