Chamber to elect new executive Nov. 27

Those wanting to have a say in the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce can stand for election to its board of directors for 2002 later this month.
“We have already been in contact with several interested individuals wishing to sit on the board, however, there are still a few vacancies,” said Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth.
“I think we still have two.”
Those interested in getting involved can call the Chamber office at 274-5773 prior to the election, which will take place at the Chamber’s semi-annual meeting Tuesday, Nov. 27 at noon at the Red Dog Inn.
Booth said while she didn’t want to announce prior to the election who likely would be on the board, “the majority of the board is returning,” she noted.
The current executive consists of president Marla Thomson, first vice-president Roberta Oliver, second vice-president Brian Hagarty, treasurer Kelly Spicer, and past president Tannis Drysdale.
The board of directors includes Laurie Beadle, Jim Brown, Christine Denby, Bud Edwards, Tammy Hayward, Alan Tibbetts, and Anne Zucchiatti.
Appointees include Mayor Glenn Witherspoon, Geoff Gillon, Gary Rogozinski, and Christine Jourdain.
In other Chamber news, its fifth-annual Christmas gala is slated Dec. 8 at the Red Dog Inn.
“This is really a hassle-free event for our business community,” said Booth. “There’s no agreeing on a date and time, finding a suitable location, planning a meal, cooking, cleaning, finding entertainment, taking time out of your busy schedule to plan a party.
We’ve taken care of all that for you,” she remarked. “Make our Christmas party your Christmas party, and leave all the fuss to us.”
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a veal cutlet dinner at 7. Fort Frances Little Theatre will provide the entertainment after supper.
There also will be music, dancing, complimentary wine, door prizes, and a silent auction.
Tickets cost $35 each for Chamber members and $45 for non-members. These can be purchased at the Chamber office (474 Scott St.) or you can reserve them by calling Booth at 274-5773.
