Chamber projects unveiled

he Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is working on several projects this year, including a business directory it aims to launch in 2014.
The Chamber also will be involved in the July 1-4 celebrations as well as “Quest for the Best,” which will coincide with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship again this year.
Not only will “Quest” take place under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina, but it will be held on the Friday of the bass tourney (July 26), not the Wednesday or Thursday as in recent years.
The Chamber also is looking for sponsors for its annual “Project Petunia,” which ensures flower baskets and planters adorn the stretch of King’s Highway from Tim Hortons to Central Avenue, up Central Avenue to the tourist information centre, and in the “gateway” area of town on Church Street and Mowat Avenue.
The BIA puts flower baskets on the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of Scott Street.
In other news, the Chamber has seen a boost in membership so far this year, with 19 new members joining since January.
“We’ve got a bright future at the Chamber,” president Mark Caron enthused at a general membership meeting Tuesday night at La Place Rendez-Vous.
