Chamber gearing up for awards banquet

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s 10th-annual business awards gala slated for Oct. 29 is shaping up to be a night to remember, with tickets now on sale.
“Everything is falling into place. They’re coming along really well,” said Chamber office manager Dawn Booth.
“Randy [Thoms of Shaw Cable] has started to talk to the nominees and get video clips from them. So that’s one exciting thing for the evening,” she added.
“It think he was a little shocked when we gave him the final list of nominees,” Booth remarked. “He’s been out and about doing all he can. We appreciate Shaw’s support on this.”
Booth noted tickets for gala are available at the Chamber office. They cost $45/person for Chamber members and $50 for non-members. There is a discount if you purchase a table of 10.
Since this is the Chamber’s 10th-annual business awards, Booth said they’re looking to make it extra special.
“It is black-tie optional,” she noted. “We’re hoping the people that do come out dress up a little more than usual. We’re trying to be a little more classy.
“The other thing is we are gong to be recognizing all past winners so we’re inviting them to come out, as well,” said Booth
“So any past winner, any nominee, any Rainy River Future Development Corp. customer service award winners—all of those people are invited to attend the banquet,” said Booth.
A total of 85 nominations—some of which were for the same nominees and categories—came in by the Sept. 30 deadline.
Judges now will gather and select the winners at a meeting later this month.
The winners then will be announced at the business awards banquet, which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 29 at La Place Rendez-Vous.
