Chamber elects new executive, directors

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce elected its new executive and board of directors for 2005 at its general meeting here yesterday.
Former first vice-president Gary Rogozinski (Abitibi-Consolidated) will become president, former second vice-president Christine Denby (Gillons’ Insurance) will become first vice-president, and former director Cathy Emes (Envision North) will become second vice-president.
Crystal Godbout (Rainy River Future Development Corp.) was elected treasurer while Alan Tibbetts (H&R Block) will serve as past president.
The board’s nine directors include newcomers Dave Ashworth (Vianet Internet Solutions) and Barb Cournoyer (TD Canada Trust).
Staying on with the Chamber board are Tannis Drysdale (TGD Consulting), John Evans (BDO Dunwoody), Brian Kahler (Brown Cow Promotions), Gus MacDonnell (IQON Financial), Kelly Spicer (Robin’s Donuts), Karri Tougas (Northland Basics), and Debbie Williamson (Fort Frances Clinic Dispensary).
Ala Dulas (B•93 FM) will sit as an alternate director.
“We had 10 people vying for nine director seats,” noted Chamber manager Dawn Booth. “Ala offered to step down and just come to meetings, without voting.”
Not returning to the Chamber’s board of directors for 2005 are John Cummings (Norfab Building Components) and Cheryl McCallum (Cheryl’s Office on Wheels).
The three appointed members to the board are Mayor Dan Onichuk (Town of Fort Frances), Larry Syrovy (BIA), and Christine Jourdain (Couchiching First Nation).
Jane Gillon (Ministry of Northern Development and Mines) will sit as an ex-officio member.
