With the deadline to vote in the election having elapsed yesterday, the ballots have been counted and the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce has a new board of directors.
The lineup of directors includes Mark Caron (M.L. Caron Electric), Barb Cournoyer (TD Canada Trust), Tyler Cousineau (Gillons’ Insurance Brokers), Cathy Emes (Emes Financial Services), Krista Gushulak (CIBC), and Lillian Gerley (UPS Store).
They are joined by Kevin Langford (Canada Safeway), John McEvoy (Bell), Leo Melanson (B93•FM), Jennifer Morrison (Enterprise Rent-a-Car), Robin Payeur (Causeway General Insurance), Dave Petsnick (Revco Carpet), and Lisa Plourde (RBC Royal Bank).
Appointees on the Chamber board include Coun. Ken Perry (Town of Fort Frances), Angela Halvorsen (Rainy River Future Development Corp.), Patti Anderson (BIA), Christine Jourdain (Couchiching First Nation), and Gary Rogozinski (AbitibiBowater).
Jane Gillon (Ministry of Northern Development & Mines) is an ex-officio member.
The Chamber was required to hold an election after more than 13 people put their names forward to fill the seats at its annual general membership meeting on Nov. 24. Ballots were sent out to Chamber members via e-mail shortly afterwards, and 35 ballots were returned by yesterday’s deadline.
Tara Albanese, the lone candidate who wasn’t elected, will served as a volunteer for the board.
Chamber manager Anthony Mason said this morning that the new executive will be appointed/elected at the board’s next meeting on Tuesday (Dec. 15).
