The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual general meeting next Thursday (April 27) from 5:30-7 p.m. upstairs at La Place Rendez-Vous.
This is an important meeting for member businesses as it fulfills the need for our organization to be accountable.
It also enables members to participate in the governance or leadership of the Chamber.
The AGM gives the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce an opportunity to communicate with its members, as well as fulfill the legal requirement of a non-profit organization under the Incorporations Act of Ontario or Canada.
At the AGM, members hear reports on the previous year’s activities, ask questions about the financial statements, and pass a motion to accept the slate of board members as presented.
They also hear from the elected chair of the board.
This year’s guest speaker will be Dan Pella, manager of business sales for Tbaytel.
He will be discussing the Fort Frances fibre deployment as a whole, but specifically will touch on:
•why Tbaytel is bringing fibre to Fort Frances;
•the overall benefits of fibre;
•how Tbaytel will leverage local partnerships to deliver fibre to the community; and
•its overall fibre build timeline/business fibre assessment process.
