Stephen Boon, CEP national representative in Dryden, confirmed members of CEP Local 324-5 voted unanimously to ratify a new collective agreement with Northwoods Broadcasting (CFOB 93.1).
“We are very pleased to have reached a solid, long-term deal which provides a number of significant improvements for our members,” said Boon, adding 100 percent of the workers at the Fort Frances-based radio station voted in favour of the deal last night.
Some of the key highlights are:
•8.75 percent increase in pay over the three-and-a-half year contract;
•73 percent increase in employer pension contributions from $75/month to $130/month;
•increase in shift differential from $.40 to $.50 per hour;
•one additional paid sick day;
•two additional paid stat holidays (Remembrance Day and Family Day);
•one paid day for bereavement leave to attend funeral of close friend;
•increased mileage allowance to $.45/km and $4 for each completed trip;
•increase in daily per diem from $55 per day to $75 per day; and
•increase in paid vacation entitlement.
