The OPP is reminding drivers that they will be continuing with the annual Festive R.I.D.E. campaign until Jan. 2, so if they want to party to ring in 2013, they had better do it safely.
The OPP urges everyone to plan ahead when heading out for holiday season social outings that involve alcohol consumption.
Arrange for a taxi or designated driver ahead of time, or arrange for overnight accommodations so you do not have to drive.
If you are hosting a party and serving alcohol, offer to help your guests make those arrangements so no one is at risk of getting behind the wheel impaired when your party is over.
For the remaining few days of the campaign, the OPP is hoping that every encounter they have during their R.I.D.E. stops are with sober drivers.
But they are warning that those who are not will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.
The Festive R.I.D.E. campaign began Nov. 24.
