Temporary traffic restrictions are in place at the north end of McIrvine Road as construction gets underway to rehabilitate the Caul Bridge.
One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times, with one lane closed during construction activity, Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown said yesterday via e-mail.
“White Contracting Ltd. will be working Monday to Friday from sunrise to sunset on this project,” Brown noted.
“No work will take place on the weekends over the next two weeks,” he added.
During weekdays, northbound traffic on McIrvine Road will be required to yield to oncoming traffic, with signage installed accordingly.
Two lanes of traffic on the bridge will be maintained on weekends, although there will be a one-metre reduction in width on each side of the bridge as the timber curb will be removed and existing asphalt being milled.
Temporary barriers also are being installed to prevent vehicles from driving into the construction work area.
The project is estimated to be completed by Aug. 20.
