A joint transportation policy between the local separate and public school boards will be up for discussion at tonight’s monthly meeting of the Northwest Catholic District School Board.
Trustees will receive a verbal report from Superintendent of Business Chris Howarth on the board’s transportation policy and the consortia which the NCDSB is involved with the Rainy River District School Board to organize busing for students across the district.
This follows the public board’s approval, at its monthly meeting Oct. 4, of a recommendation to change the current purchase of service agreement to an “unincorporated separate legal entity” with the intent of being more efficient and effective.
The school boards also are looking into moving towards a joint transportation policy so as to operate under a “one manual” approach.
Currently, each board has its own separate transportation policy despite sharing the consortium.
Catholic board trustees will be looking to determine the make-up of a Joint Ad Hoc Transportation Committee between the two boards for the development of a joint transportation policy.
Also up for approval tonight is a bid from NRB of $256,572 for the supply of a two-classroom addition to the portable classroom addition at St. Joseph’s School.
As well, the board also is set to formally approve a bid from Advanced Education of $117,260 (plus taxes) for the supply of SmartBoard equipment.
Finally, this month’s recognition of excellence will be presented to Mme. Blackmon and Mlle. Aaviku of St. Joseph’s School for their efforts in organizing this year’s Terry Fox Run there.
St. Joseph’s raised $8,458.08.
Tonight’s meeting will take place, via videoconference, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Francis School library.
