Catholic board to hold final meeting

The Northwest Catholic District School Board will receive a number of reports tonight in its final meeting before the new board is sworn in next month following last week’s municipal election.
Among those to be reviewed are the director of education’s annual report for 2006, as well as an extensive report on student achievement.
The former highlights some of the activities and accomplishments at the board’s five schools over the past year while the latter outlines activities taking place over the 2006/07 school year to address student achievement.
Trustees also will approve the board meeting schedule for 2007, including three face-to-face meetings over the course of the year—one each in Fort Frances, Dryden, and Stratton.
This will be the last meeting for board chair Gerry Rousseau, who was defeated in last week’s election.
Re-elected were Fort Frances trustees Anne Marie Fitzgerald and Harold Huntley, as well as Stratton trustee Mark Chojko-Bolec.
Robert vanOort and John Borst of Dryden were acclaimed, as was Cathy Bowen of Sioux Lookout.
Newly-elected to represent the third Fort Frances seat is Paul Cousineau, who will take his oath, along with the other trustees, at the inaugural meeting here on Saturday, Dec. 2. at 10:30 a.m.
